Asia Pacific Regional Director of the United Nations Development Coordination Office, Mr. David McLachlan-Karr, called on Hon. Sajith Premadasa, the Leader of the Opposition, at the Office of the Leader of the Opposition in Colombo today (17) where a number of special subjects were taken into consideration.
The discussion was held with particular focus on the inauguration of the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) 2023-2027, which, in future, will guide the United Nations agencies in Sri Lanka.
Attending to several issues Sri Lanka is facing, namely, food insecurity in Sri Lanka due to the current economic situation, as well as the need for United Nations involvement to protect marginalized groups were also emphasized.
The importance of formal and positive engagement with the United Nations was also taken into consideration at the meeting.
Mr. David McLachlan-Karr is currently in Sri Lanka for an official visit.
Mrs. Hanaa Singer, UN Resident Coordinator in Sri Lanka, was also present at the occasion.
