    About Sajith

A better Sri Lanka for the Future Generations!

Sajith, an Economic, International Relations and Politics graduate from London School of Economics took the plunge into politics in 1994 after the demise of his beloved father. Since then, Sajith has spearheaded many projects to alleviate poverty and develop the country. A constant winner of hearts and votes of the people of Sri Lanka, Sajith served as the Minister of Housing, Construction & Cultural affairs from 2015 to 2019 and is the Leader of the main opposition party of Sri Lanka, Samagi Jana Balawegaya. Sajith is also an avid wild-life photographer and a nature lover.

Period poverty remains a much neglected issue in SL. Male chauvinism and male dominated political processes have prevented SL from taking progressive steps to address the problem. New Zealand and Scotland have shown the way forward. It’s high time SL emulated these role models.

As we celebrate the #InternationalWomensDay today, let us all mobilize all our strength and determination to promote political, economic and social empowerment of women as they are the source of human strength, vitality in society and the main catalyst in human living.

Kudos to Chairman of the SJB Lawyers Association Chairman Upul Jayasuriya and his legal team on a memorable achievement in making democracy victorious. You have walked the talk. Simply Brilliant! 👏
